Here are our three top picks of the best books that you shouldn’t miss out on reading. As much as we are glad we got to see the beautifully written wordplay on the big screens, we still think it is best to read them.
- The Godfather (Mario Puzo)
Obviously, the film remained devoted to the true way and nature of the book. Though, some backstories were dispensed with, while others showed up in The Godfather II. That is why we think it is better to read the book through the beautifully penned words as it will let you lose yourself into another world. The completion of the film is in reality, bleaker than the book. Yet, both film and book complement each other impeccably. Mario Puzo himself assisted it. So, there was no way this list would miss out this classic.
- Room (Emma Donoghue)
This is a much recent movie which not only caught the attention of the viewers by its grim and unpredictable storyline but also won Best Director and Best Actor Oscars for Brie Larson and Lenny Abrahamson. For someone who had read the book before watching the movie, I can guarantee you even though I was amazed by the performance in the movie, but the thrill of reading the book was just something else. So, I say, do give it a read.
- Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov)
Another classic and personal favourite that had to be included on the list. With two different editions of the movie about the book, I still don’t think anyone of them has done justice to this novel. Now keep a very open mind before you give it a read as it does touch controversial subjects, but it is definitely worth it!
