This book is written by Wanda Mahboub in which she tells us the story of her mother Helen Jones, which is quite shady. She does not recollect all events that happened in her childhood, but she recalls sufficient details that illustrate that this story is all about survival. She expresses to us how much it is painful not having a normal childhood and raised by a mother who was preoccupied with her fears. Although her mother tried to raise her in the best ways, unfortunately, even her best ways were detrimental. She lost her mother in an accident when she was very young. Such painful events of her life taught her the very ground realities of life.
