Rise in Purpose

Each year millions of teenagers in the United States lose their lives to violence and on May 29, 2018, my 16-year-old son Grant became one of those statistics. He was a victim of senseless gun violence. When I lost Grant, I was overcome with anger. How could God do this to Grant? How could he do this to me? What did I do so bad for me to experience this “Hell on Earth?”

I drank alcohol every night to try to numb the pain. I cursed God and drank in one breath and in the next breath, I begged and pleaded for him to help me overcome the most hurtful and traumatic pain I have ever felt in my entire life. God not only answered my prayers, he turned my pain into purpose. I was set free from all my addictions, fears, and self-sabotaging behaviors. I started a non-profit organization for youth to keep Grant’s legacy alive and I am now committed to helping others find their purpose and achieve their dreams.
